Alex Preston began his musical journey at the age of 5. From violin to the piano, he started to fall in love with learning new instruments and ways to be creative musically. After deciding to move to Nashville, TN in 2013, he started his musical career. Living with his cousin, Grammy-nominated Jo Dee Messina, he began playing around town and writing with other songwriters. After over a year of grinding and working hard, he got through the first round of auditions for American Idol, being the only one chosen out of 20,000 online submissions. He made it to third place and had the opportunity to work with respected artists like Jason Mraz, Andy Grammer, Guster, Alex & Sierra, Rickey Minor, and so many more. Keith Urban said it best by stating ““What I love about your performances, they always hold my attention. It’s very raw, and it’s fragile. It’s very real. You don’t ever phone it in, you’re always in the moment…man, I love your artistry.” Even Harry Connick Jr. once stated, “man, I would go see this guy in concert”. Alex has released two albums, several music videos, and countless singles since his run on American Idol. Some of his songs include Fairytales which has sold over 100,000 copies and Break My Heart which has garnered almost 1,000,000 streams on Spotify. Alex now resides in Boston, MA as he tours throughout the country and finishes his marketing/business degree.
